Report Topics

You are required to write your report on one of the following topics:

1.Computers and the environment

How computers are used in the area of the environment. Use of computers in this area includes environmental protection, mapping, forecasting, monitoring and other techniques which incorporate computers into their processes eg. (agriculture, biodiversity projects, seedbanks)

2. Computers in medicine and medical research

Use of computers in medicine and medical research- for example, databases such as the Human Genome project, medical aid projects, medical techniques, diagnosis.

3. Computers in engineering and design/architecture

Computers in engineering and design/architecture, techniques and processes, such as simulations and modelling for design and construction.  You can also examine the information function of computers, such as the online development of community aid projects 

Research your report using the skills introduced this semester, including finding and evaluating information.  Keep a record of your search strategies and ensure that you take note of the correct bibliographical information for all your resources.

You will need to begin your research on the topic during the mid semester break and present your preliminary findings in Week 7 (see Homework section f. Mini Presentation).
