Teachers know the content they teach

Example characteristics of the standards:

With a global perspective and awareness of the Thomas Friedman's narrative 'The World Is Flat'; equity, vocational aptitude and a socially critical view of a global education will create a sustainable future for all. This is demonstrated in the use of computers and our communication with others from all backgrounds and in all places.

First grader with me - we were using computers to communicate with schools of different economical, racial and social backgrounds. In other words we were a public school having live chats and working groups with private schools where students paid more than $30,000 and my public school had the majority of students on the free breakfast and lunch programs.
